Stop SATS

2nd November 2010

We are surveying all head teacher members to get their views on boycott and NAHT. Work is been done on a joint submission from NUT, ATL, NAHT and ASCL (NAS will be asked too) which is based on a paper Warwick Mansell has been commissioned to do to consolidate all policies on assessment and league tables. We'll also do our own submission but we don't have the terms of the review yet. It will be discussed again once we have results of the survey but second guessing it will come back as disappointed but no to a boycott alone, then we should 'engage' with the review but reserve the possibility to ballot and boycott.

More important than the boycott issue was looking at campaigning to involve classroom teachers. There will be something along the lines of the Licence to practice to get members and school groups to respond to consultation. Also all SATs campaign materials and guidance to teachers are going to be updated. Stalls and getting parents and governors involved etc all continuing.
