Facilities for Reps of recognised teachers' organisations
The following facilities should be available to you:
- Noticeboard
A noticeboard should be provided, ideally in the staff-room, for display of union material, information and notices.
- Telephone, fax
You are entitled to the use of a telephone or fax machine in private. Pay for the call and claim the cost back from the Association
- Room for meetings
A room should be made available if you wish to hold a meeting.
- Reprographics
Reprographic facilities should be made available. Any work done can be paid for by the Association.
- Information
You should have access to copies of Local Agreements and Administrative Memoranda and the Burgundy Book of National Agreements (see two key documents on the next page). You are also entitled to information on the staffing establishment of the school (e.g. the number and distribution of allowances) the school budget.
Other rights
- Consultation
You Headteacher/Principal should consult you, and the other union reps, about any matter that might affect the Conditions of Service of staff e.g. directed time budget, changes in the staffing establishment.
- Training
You are entitled (as is any member) to attend any Union training course without loss of pay. If your school is not willing to provide supply cover the Association may be able to do so. Contact the Office to discuss any request before committing yourself.
