Long Service Award
Employees completing 25 years continuous or aggregate service with the County Council are entitled to receive a long service award.
How much is the award?
The award will take the form of a gift(s) to the value below from a retailer(s) of their choice. It is not possible for the award to be taken as cash or gift vouchers.
| 25 years' service | £250 |
| 35 years' service | £400 |
It is inclusive of VAT and therefore a tax invoice must be obtained so that the tax element may be reclaimed. Gift or cash. It can only be claimed on retirement.
Do I need to apply for the award?
Individual Schools/Colleges are responsible for informing staff by letter that they have the required service. Of course, a gentle reminder wouldn't go amiss.
What happens next?
Once you have decided on your gift, you fill in a form identifying a retailer that will accept a School/College order or will accept a cheque. You are then responsible for buying the gift. If you are to receive the gift in a presentation you should then pass it to your Headteacher or Principal.
